Nitte University has been granted an Indian patent for an invention entitled “Primer Sequences for Detection of Salmonella spp. by Loop Mediated Isothermal Amplification (LAMP)”.
The patent, bearing Patent No. 599272 (Application No. 202041026869), was filed on 25 June 2020 and was officially granted on 14 August 2026 by the Patent Office, Government of India. The patent has been granted for a term of 20 years from the date of filing.
The invention focuses on primer sequences designed for the detection of Salmonella spp. using Loop-Mediated Isothermal Amplification (LAMP), a molecular amplification approach with potential applications in rapid pathogen detection.
The inventors of the patented technology are Dr. Gunimala Chakraborty and Dr. Anirban Chakraborthy.
The grant marks an important achievement in strengthening research-driven innovation and the development of molecular diagnostic technologies at Nitte University.
